ARBORE TRIBE
ETHIOPIA
The Arbore are a small pastoralist community living in the Omo Valley of southern Ethiopia. Known for their elaborate beaded jewelry, shaved hairstyles for women, and calm intertribal diplomacy, they are one of the more peaceful voices in a region marked by complexity.
Their way of life revolves around seasonal agriculture and cattle herding, deeply intertwined with ancestral traditions passed down orally. Stories, songs, and proverbs connect generations, preserving history without written records.
But tradition faces pressure. As roads expand and outside influences reach deeper into the valley, the Arbore walk a delicate line between preservation and change.

Among the Arbore, beauty doesn’t shout. It weaves itself quietly through beads, bare scalps, and still gazes.
